Sustainability Report 2008

This Sustainability Report describes Océ's sustainability strategy based on its five focal points and includes targets for the short, medium and long term. Furthermore the report provides quantitative information on the economic, social and environmental impact of Océ’s operations. The activities are reported on the basis of the G3 Guidelines laid down by the Global Reporting Initiative.

Report’s highlights

Key achievements during 2008 include:

• the formulation of a clear sustainability strategy and measurable targets
• the launch of the Océ CrystalPoint technology for emission-free and energy efficient printing
• the launch of the Océ Prémia Class, a special series of remanufactured printing systems
• the introduction of a ‘Green Services’ program
• the amount of waste from production sites going to landfill declined from 6% in 2007 to 3,6% in 2008

Océ has evolved its reporting to include areas where further coverage was requested from its stakeholders, as discussed during the international stakeholder dialogue held at Océ headquarters in November 2008. These areas include the definition of clear strategy with measurable targets, the improvement of the level of reporting according to GRI standards from C+ to B+ and the integration of an executive summary.

As in the previous year, we asked our external auditor PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to provide external assurance on this Sustainability Report. The results can be found in the assurance report on page 78.
